Dr. Todd Sacks Discussed Obesity-related Issues on Local Version of Hit Reality Show

Local surgeon Dr. Todd Sacks of Resurgens Orthopaedics—Georgia’s largest orthopaedic practice—appeared live on “Atlanta’s Biggest Loser” on NBC affiliate 11 Alive Friday, May 14, during the 11 a.m. broadcast. He discussed the relationship between obesity and arthritis, and how being overweight or obese can exacerbate the problem. 

Dr. Sacks practices at the Resurgens offices in Austell (2041 Mesa Valley Way, Suite 100; 770-944-1100), West Cobb in Marietta (3698 Largent Way, Suite 103; 678-354-2883), and Douglasville (4586 Timber Ridge Drive, #200; 770-949-7400). 

“Atlanta’s Biggest Loser” is the metro area’s local version of the hit reality show “The Biggest Loser” and Dr. Sacks greatly enjoyed providing guidance and advice. 

“I’m honored to have had the opportunity to join the show and offer my expertise on obesity and arthritis,” said Dr. Sacks. “The more education we can give to people, hopefully the healthier choices they’ll make.” 

Dr. Sacks specializes in total joint replacement, sports medicine, and arthroscopy. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is the Chairman of the Wellstar Cobb Joint Replacement Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons. 

Dr. Sacks received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse. He completed his residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, Florida and his fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.
